Who Knew a Recliner Could Be So Functional? Handicare offers three different types of Combi: Caregiver-Operated, User-Operated (Self-Propelled) and Tilt.

 

The Combi Caregiver-Operated is stable, fully adjustable and designed for patients with limited leg function, low stamina or reduced balance who require caregiver assistance during transfers. Every design detail of the Caregiver-Operated Combi is considerate of both the patient and the caregiver, providing a safe and accommodating experience during routine daily activities. Combi Caregiver-Operated is available in standard, low and wide models:

  • Standard – 330 lbs (150 kg) max patient weight; seat height 17.9 in – 21.5 in (455 mm – 545 mm). Includes toilet rails. Suitable for most patients.
  • Low – 330 lbs (150 kg) max patient weight; seat height 19.9 in – 24.8 in (505 mm – 630 mm).  Includes toilet rails.
  • Wide – 440 lbs (200 kg) max patient weight; seat height 19.9 in – 24.8 in. Designed for heavier patients with larger frames or prefer more room to maneuver in the chair.

 

The Combi User-Operated (Self-Propelled) is stable, fully adjustable and designed for semi-independent patients with limited leg function or reduced balance. It also is a good choice for wheelchair patients with full use of their upper body. Combi User-Operated is available in standard and wide models:

  • Standard – 330 lbs (150 kg) max patient weight; 27.6 in (70 cm) wide. Includes toilet rails. Suitable for most patients.
  • Wide – 330 lbs (150 kg) max patient weight; 31.5 in (80 cm) wide. Includes toilet rails. Designed for patients with larger frames or prefer more room to maneuver in the chair.

 

The Combi Tilt is stable, fully adjustable and designed for patients with limited leg function, low stamina or reduced balance who require assistance with additional daily hygiene activities, including dental care, eye care and showering. The unique reclining capability of the Combi Tilt allows for more efficient interaction between patient and caregiver with less need for bending over, providing a safe and accommodating experience during routine daily activities. Combi Tilt is available in manual or powered tilt models:

  • Manual Tilt  – Tilt movement is activated by a hand lever at the rear of the chair. The caregiver can stand either at the rear or at the side of the chair while operating the tilting function. Includes toilet rails.  330 lbs (150 kg) max patient weight.
  • Powered Tilt – Tilt is activated using a handheld control connected to the motor via coiled cable. While operating the tilt function, the caregiver can move around the chair, maintaining good eye-to-eye contact and assisting the patient as needed. The smooth start-stop actuator allows for full tilting angle control. Includes toilet rails and charging cable.  330 lbs (150 kg) max patient weight.

Accessories

Armrest Lock: A specially designed steel bar that attaches between Combi’s armrest and frame, securing the armrest in the horizontal position. A simple press-and-pull motion releases one end of the bar, restoring movement to the armrest when needed. Recommended for use in conjunction with the following:

  • Combi-Tilt – Without lock, armrests may inadvertently fold up while chair is reclined
  • Front Cross Bar – Lock secures bar/armrest assembly while patient is holding on for support
  • Compatible with all Combi models

Headrest: Ideal for patients wanting comfortable support for their head and neck while seated in their Combi; especially recommended for Combi – Tilt models

  • Adjustable Height – one-handed operation of lower press-and-turn knob allows you to slide headrest up and down 9.5 in (25 cm) to fit patient
  • Adjustable Angle – one-handed operation of upper press-and-turn knob allows for optimal angle positioning up to 45° backward, 180° forward
  • Broad, Contoured Support – headrest pad cradles back and sides of patient’s lower head and neck, conforming to natural curves of spine and keeping head comfortably facing forward
  • Soft and Durable – padded polyurethane construction of headrest pad adjusts to patient’s temperature and offers ideal balance of comfort and support; easy to wipe clean
  • Available for all Combi models

Soft Backrest – Replacing the standard fiberglass/plastic backrest, the Soft Backrest attaches around the chair’s frame firmly and simply using commercial grade Velcro. No tools required. Designed for patients weighing up to 330 lbs (150 kg).

  • Adjustable – loosen or tighten four Velcro straps to adjust Soft Backrest to comfort of patient
  • Machine Washable – undo Velcro straps to remove backrest and toss it in washing machine using favorite detergent; see user manual for details
  • Durable – upholstered in Handicare’s special plastic-coated, woven polyester fabric, it tolerates temperatures, elements and constant stretching from daily use
  • Comfortable – upholstery comfortably conforms to patient’s shape and body temperature. Internal padding provides ideal amount of resistance to feel both soft and supportive

Footrests: Provide patient with stable footing while chair is in motion, preventing feet from getting caught under chair. Essential during transport.

  • Adjustable Height – four available height options, secures firmly into place with Handicare’s snap lock clips and requires no tools
  • Swing-Away Design – lift gives 90 degree inward/outward movement, allowing for unobstructed patient transfer to and from chair
  • Flip-Up Footpads – quick flip of footpads and patient now has plenty of space to place their feet on floor
  • Always use in combination with Combi Tilt and available for all Combi models

Leg Support: Comfortably holds patient’s entire leg in extended position while seated; ideal for certain post-surgery or plaster cast scenarios.

  • Cupped Polyurethane Pad – 8.4 in (21.5 cm) wide and 6.4 in – 7.8 in (16.5cm – 20 cm) deep; durable and easy to clean; and conforms to patient’s shape and temperature
  • Stainless Steel Frame – attaches easily to the Amputee Support
  • Adjustable – one-handed, twist-and-lock operation allows length and multiple angle adjustments for ideal fit and positioning; no tools required
  • Swing-Away Design – lift gives 90 degree inward/outward movement, allowing for unobstructed patient transfer to and from chair
  • Compatible will all Combi chair models

Front Cross Bar: For patients coping with reduced balance or that have a tendency to fall forward while seated.

  • While Seated – patient enjoys convenient bar to hold on to that enables them to sit up straight with no slipping and sliding in chair
  • Getting Up/Sitting Down – easily unlocks on either end and swings out to the left or right, where it locks into place parallel to armrest
  • Compatible with all standard-width Combi models

Lateral Trunk Support: Features cupped polyurethane pad that holds upper torso side of patient and is adjustable for comfort and fit.

  • Width Adjustment – turn screw to adjustment patient’s frame
  • Swing Away – lift on lock bolt and move support for easy access to chair
  • Height Adjustment – three levels available
  • Adjustable Pads – four positions available to conform to patient’s shape
  • Available in four models: Right Side – Standard Adjustable Width, Left Side – Standard Adjustable Width, Right Side – Broad Adjustable Width and Left Side – Broad Adjustable Width

Hip Belt: Holds patient securely to their Combi chair and prevents them from sliding forward during use; for patients weighing up to 230 lbs (100 kg).

  • Two-Point Length Adjustment – sliding straps on front and back of belt allow for proper fit and comfort
  • Padded Nylon Fabric – durable, comfortable and easy to clean
  • Quick Clip Safety Buckle – secures easily in one motion; push clips together to release

Heel and Calf Strap: Supports patient’s lower legs, keeping patient’s feet from sliding from foot pads. Prevents injuries that may occur if patient’s feet get caught under chair while in motion. Highly recommended for Combi – Tilt models and compatible with all Combi models.

Amputee Support: Holds patient’s stump in any desired position while seated. Simple to install, it mounts to chair in place of left or right footrest.

  • Cupped Polyurethane Pad – 8.4 in (21.5 cm) wide and 6.4 in – 7.8 in (16.5 cm – 20 cm) deep; durable and easy to clean; and conforms to patient’s shape and temperature
  • Stainless Steel Frame – installs easily inside Combi’s footrest mount on either side of chair
  • Adjustable – one-handed, twist-and-lock operation allows vertical angle adjustment for ideal positioning; no tools required
  • Swing-Away Design – lift gives 90 degree inward/outward movement, allowing for unobstructed patient transfer to and from chair

Commode Bucket with Lid: Available in two models and made of durable, high density plastic. Easy to clean and easier to use:

  • Gravity Sealed Lid – knob molded into center of lid allows for simple placement and removal, and forms to shape of bucket, providing an adequate seal without snaps or latches
  • Integrated Handle – made from plated steel, permanently integrated handle is secure, easy to grasp and conveniently drops to side of bucket when released
  • Precision Fit – bucket securely sets within Combi’s standard seat, while providing just enough clearance to allow for effortless removal

Transport Seat Cover: Slips easily over Combi’s standard seat, providing patient a complete and comfortable seating surface when using Combi as a transport chair. The seat cover’s unique, plastic coated and woven polyester upholstery is easy to clean and made to last. Compatible with all Combi models.
